"Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth. ....." (Isaiah 43:19)
"For there is still a vision for the appointed time. If it seems to tarry, wait, for it will surely come, it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3 NRSV)
Welcome to the website of the North Memphis Presiding Elder's District of the West Tennessee Conference of the 13th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
The words of the prophets Isaiah and Habakkuk express my continuing faith claim on the revelation God has given for the ministry of the churches of the North Memphis District. Therefore we are rejoicing in God's grace and mercy. With uplifted voices of praise we can testify that we have seen what the Lord will do for his people who put their trust in Him.
As Presiding Elder, I am grateful to Almighty God for allowing me the opportunity to work in this vineyard. Praise be to God for the ministry he has revealed for this work and for dedicated followers who feel it not robbery to follow God's plan to higher heights. Our district has witnessed Liberation, deliverance, and reconciliation.
The North Memphis District constituency believes we fulfill the great work of ministry by meeting needs and changing lives. Discipleship is the key to effective ministry in the church. It can only be accomplished as we develop through study and sacrifice into faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Spiritual immaturity makes weak worldly Christians, controlled by their own desires. Therefore it is our desire to provide a nurturing atmosphere for every member of the district to mature spiritually as a learner and allow God to fully control every life in every aspect. New Visions of renewed hope have been promised to those of us who have faith enough to believe. On behalf of our Chief Pastor, Bishop Jeffrey N. Leath, Dr. Susan Leath, Supervisor of Missions, the clergy and the laity of the North Memphis District we welcome you !
